From an eatery, a cook made it to the top of the world of cuisines by serving the world something usual, but decorated & presented in a way that made them feel like something never felt before. The cook now made it to the top list restaurant chains & groomed infinite caterers & cooks under him. The cook’s signature dish had made the goodwill that ran the entire business.
Once upon a time, after a few years since his last dish came out, he wanted to serve something that would break over all the ethos & traditions that he had made for himself. He thought that this was the need for the hour & will replenish the aroma that mesmerized the crowd of the 1990s & 2000s.
He came up with a concept where he, like always will pick up the most trending dish of the season, garner it with the best ingredients possible & will call it his brainchild. He did so. He took in the talk of the town, he served in best cutlery, and he brought in the charm of the lust lost the world & presented another signature art that people queued over to taste. But by breaking his ethos, & not playing with other chapters, the dish will either take everyone by the storm, or it will be a setback, following the current market trend. This Diwali comes a KARAN JOHAR’s directorial that has lighted the brightest careers of Bollywood.
He undoubtedly is the Yash Chopra of Dharma Productions but Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is not even JAB TAK HAI JAAN. Brace & cover yourself, it is a shocker.
Like a usual Dharma Production, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is shot in the most exotic location of the globe with glamour-most personalities wearing the show-stopper designs even in the loo, Karan Johar does no play with the ground he is taught to play in. How far is the way alluring & attractive as the previous one? Keep reading…
You’ll be glad / shocked, depends on your favorite color(-ed outfit), to know that Fawad Khan isn’t the only one from the neighboring country to star in the movie. Okay, not intended to provoke anyone. The movie in spite of the twist & turns and happening and songs and cameos is so dull that it only ignites the spark once Aishwarya enters post-interval. Aishwarya is a bliss that happened to a story like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, she is that accessory with a dress that made no sense. She is (finally) what she couldn’t be in DHOOM-2, or before. The attractive-older woman act that she puts in is the catalyst of the story, of Ranbir Kapoor’s unrequited love.
Do not know how to hold the circumstances for/against it but, Fawad Khan lacks the screen presence that was expected from him. Maybe the prince we loved in KHUBSURAT couldn’t fit in a sutta-sufyana-Deejay Ali role. Not everyone who drops the shield / standard makes your jaw fall ( 😛 ).
The chemistry between Ranbir and Anushka fails to hit the chord that Ranbir and Deepika had. The attempt to recreate KUCH KUCH HOTA HAIN’s pyaar-aur-dosti-ke-beech-mei-latke vibe hits strong enough to create the differentiation enough & then blur it again. But it doesn’t hit the notch as right as Imraan-Kareena did in EKK MAIN AUR EKK TU.
The viewers are sure to feel dry & unsatisfied with the presentation of the pair and the story.
Despite the numerous cameos of star, superstars, songs, Dharma’s previous stories, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil neither makes us cry like KAL HO NA HO did nor makes us feel the love in the air like KUCH KUCH HOTA HAIN. Ranbir fails to surprise and looks tired of repeating the same act he is sketched as. Apart from the above-mentioned failures of referenced movies, you’ll also see how flawed Ranbir acts as a singer (Ref: ROCKSTAR) even if the charming act is somehow pulled.
It might be worth a ticket in the coming week when the ticket prices will fall but not for this weekend, where you are confused on how to squeeze it in between Diwali and work.
